RIDING TIP: FEEBLE GRIND

A grind you can get your feeble brain around

tips-tricks-feeble-grind

If you have your bunnyhops in good order, then learning feeble grinds will be an easy progression for you. Feebles can be done whichever way feels most natural to you, right or left, regardless of which foot you run forwards, so it is a great building block trick, or one to learn switch. The concept is simple, grind on the rear peg while rolling on the front tire, a form you can easily practice by rolling up next to a low curb and lifting your front tire onto the sidewalk, while steering to keep your front tire as close to the edge as possible and minimizing the angle on your bike. From here you can work up to a low ledge and stalls. Hopping on and off ledges this way is less scary and teaches you proper bike position, especially if you are running short pegs. Now you can add a little speed to the mix, hopping on and learning to control your slide before hopping back off. As you gain confidence, work on putting more weight on your bars for longer, smoother and more controlled grinds. When you can combine your grind with more speed and control, try grinding off of the ends of ledges and adding a little hop, this technique will help you exit grinds on tall or sticky ledges and land with more control. This is a great trick for beginning grinders that quickly increases in difficulty depending on the height and width of the ledge or rail. Have fun with this one.
